Congestive Heart Failure, or CHF, is a condition in which the heart can no longer pump enough blood to the rest of the body. It is a chronic condition, but sometimes can develop suddenly. As the heart’s pumping is lost, blood may back up in other areas of the body. Fluid will build up in the lungs, liver, gastrointestinal tract, and the arms and the legs. Symptoms of this condition include increased blood pressure and breathing problems, even at rest.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, or COPD, is one of the most common lung diseases, which makes breathing difficult. Smoking is the leading cause of COPD. Other risk factors contributing to COPD include exposure to certain gases or fumes in the workplace, exposure to heavy amounts of secondhand smoke and pollution, and frequent use of cooking fire without proper ventilation.
Some symptoms of COPD are cough (with or without mucus), fatigue, recurrent respiratory infections, shortness of breath that gets worse with mild activity, trouble catching one’s breath, and wheezing.
