Recruiting the Best and Brightest – A Global Approach

That led us to search across our borders and recruit the brightest and most talented therapists to come to Texas and work in this growing industry.”
Recruiting in this arena has been a challenge because of Expedient’s rapid growth. Home health is a popular, cost-effective alternative to in-patient and even out-patient care allowing patients to receive quality services in concert with their doctor’s orders without leaving their home. It not only enables a patient who may have trouble getting to a facility or doctor’s office the care they need, but it also offers a level of independence to those whose only alternative would be to enter an assisted living, nursing or rehabilitation home, doubling or even tripling the cost of care.
To answer the challenge of maintaining a talented staff to help as many patients as possible, Expedient set up a H1-B Visa program to train, test and finally bring over some of the best Physical Therapists from all over the world who are eager to make the transition to the American way of life.
Ben Waller and Lou Losanes traveled to the Philippines in June 2010 to interview and hire qualified Physical Therapists. “It’s great that we are able to give an opportunity for young, bright people to come to the US to continue to learn in such a demanding environment like home health. These are individuals already doing much of what we do here. We train them on cutting edge methods and technology, arrange for their certification testing here in the states, and help them in their transition to the United States.” Lou Losanes, Co-Founder. “It has been rewarding, not only for our organization and for those individuals coming over, but also for our patients well-being.”
Candy Martini E Corro was the first to come to the United States on this program from the Philippines. After a rigorous interview process and skills assessment, Candy was given the study material and tools needed to understand her work environment in home care. She then spent time in training and riding along with some of Expedient’s therapists. Expedient continues education long after their arrival. They are one of the few Home Health companies with an education department dedicated to the continued development of their clinical and office staff.
Ritchie Villena is scheduled to arrive on May 5th, 2011 and is scheduled to take the NPTE-1 exam on May 25th. The rest of the candidates will be arriving in August and taking their NPTE exams in September.

Expedient Home Health Care is currently working on acquiring a job order and US Labor Certification for hiring Occupational Therapists from the Philippines as well.
